Is there anything better on a weekend morning than a hot cup of coffee and a freshly made donut? We think it’s a combo that’s hard to beat, so we decided to help you out and gather up 11 of the best donut shops in and around Pittsburgh. Because we definitely didn’t make this donut-shop-bucket-list for ourselves…obviously.

Onion Maiden

We first found out about Onion Maiden at the Bloomfield Farmer’s Market, and we were soon obsessed. Not only are their donuts some of the best we’ve had in Pittsburgh, they’re also totally vegan. They have classics like glazed, chocolate iced, and strawberry iced, but they also switch up the flavors every Saturday based on what their bakers are inspired to make.

Just Good Donuts

When we heard the owners of Piper’s Pub and The Pub Chip Shop started making donuts, we knew we were in for a treat. If you’re looking for the classics, Just Good Donuts has got you covered (we love the glazed and the cinnamon roll!) But they also have some pretty decadent options, like berry cobbler, buckeye, and dirt donuts. Yes, the dirt donut comes with a gummy worm!

Peace Love and Little Donuts

We love that Peace Love and Little Donuts has so many locations…so we can get our donut fix no matter where we are in Pittsburgh (and even in 10 other states!) We also love that they have approximately one million flavors of donuts, so we can always get whatever we’re craving. M&Ms on a donut? Why not! Fruity pebbles? Sure!

Oram’s Donut Shop

Oram’s has been around since 1938, so you know they’re making a darn good donut that’s worth the drive out of the city. Their legendary cinnamon roll is their best-seller, and with one bite you’ll understand why. They swear their secret old-fashioned recipe is the reason why their donuts are so delicious. We don’t question it, we just eat them!

Prantl’s Bakery

Everyone knows about Prantl’s Burnt Almond Torte, but have you tried their donuts? They have all the classics, plus some fun donuts – like a pretzel donut! And did you know you can have their baked goods shipped right to your door? We’ll order the donuts, you bring the coffee.

Lincoln Bakery

Lincoln Bakery has been baking up some of the most amazing treats for the last 70+ years, and we especially love their donuts. They’re making the classics, and they’re doing them right. We’re not addicted to them, you’re addicted to them.

Grandview Bakery

The next time you’re heading to Mt. Washington for the amazing views of the city, stop by Grandview Bakery for some donuts to make the views even sweeter! They’re doing it all – glazed, filled, sprinkles, apple fritters, cake donuts, even donut holes. Grab a couple extra for us, please and thank you.

Sinkers and Suds

Sinkers and Suds is frying up mini donuts, on a food truck. Yep, you read that right! Follow them on social media to find out where they’ll be next…because once you try their mini donuts, you’ll be a groupie. (We’re totally making food truck groupies a real thing, by the way.)

Oakmont Bakery

Oakmont Bakery has a new location, but they’re baking up the same amazing pastries as always – including donuts. You really should get a dozen assorted donuts, because everything is so good. From the long johns to the fritters to the cinnamon rolls to the paczki to the classic donuts…well, we might need to get two dozen instead of just one.

Gluten Free Goat

If you haven’t tried one of Gluten Free Goat’s donuts yet, you’re missing out. They’re not just in their Penn Avenue location, either – you can find them in coffee shops and cafes all around the city! And, bonus, they’re not just gluten free, they’re also vegan.

Better-Maid Donuts

If you want donuts from Better-Maid, you’d better get up early! Once they sell out, they’re done with donuts for the day – and they sell out fast. Don’t be put-off by the line wrapped around the building, either. The donuts are so good, they’re worth the wait…if you didn’t wait too long to get out of bed!
