The 2019 Award Season is well underway, with many big names taking home big awards for their work in film, television and soon to be, music. With the 2019 Grammy Awards scheduled for February 10th, 2019 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the top manes in music will descend for their shining moment.
Within the glittering assemblage of music industry titans, there will be a few familiar names to Pittsburgh amongst the crowd, all eager to hear if they will be a lucky winner.
As a proud moment for the city, there is a major sense of being comrades around these awards for having so many proud Pittsburgh contenders in the line-up for winning some of the top awards for musical performance.
The infamous rap star, who tragically died this past September, is nominated for Best Rap Album for “Swimming”. For Miller, this is his first Grammy nomination.
Country singers and songwriters Dan + Shay (Dan is an alum of North Hills), and nominated for two awards, for Best Country Song, “Tequila”, along with Best Country Duo/Group Performance. This is their first Grammy nomination.
One of Pittsburgh’s brightest stars, Christina Aguilera, has been nominated again for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Fall in Line”.
The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra has been nominated for Best Orchestral Performance and Best Engineered Album (Classical).
