As Thanksgiving has come and gone, and Halloween has been over for at least a month, you are now beginning your descent into what is referred as “The Holiday Diet”. You plan and execute your diet for that perfect beach bod. You have mastered the art of your diet that you feel like a champ. Nothing is standing in your way – that is, until the Holidays.
First you start off with one little piece of candy, which then turns into many, and before you know it, it’s time for Thanksgiving dinner. Before you realize it, Christmas and New Years are descending upon you and before you know it, you just might be up a few pant sizes.
We all go through this in one form or another at the holidays. But it is our duty that if we want to be able to bounce back from all of the calories, then precautions must be met.
Oh, come on – you have seen worse at the airport. If you are bringing a carry-on bag, check it into the Delta Sky Lounge and make the terminals your never-ending treadmill and jogging track (most of those around you will be sleeping with their neck pillows, anyways).

There is no telling who will be home this Holiday Season, but if your best friends from high school will be, why not assemble a group together to head to the gym, or even along one of the Three Rivers for a walk or light jog?
The city is home to a plethora of outdoor activities – from numerous parks, miles of river walks, and an endless supply of bridges, you can easily escape for an outdoor workout on your week-long break. Not feeling a jog? Try one of the many Allegheny Health Network bikes placed all over downtown.
I know, I know – we have the urge to stuff our faces at the holiday. I’m guilty of this just as much as you are. Instead of filling your plate with four times as much as what you normally consume, aim for half of that. I’m sure you will remain full and happy.
