There’s no doubt we’re a sports town. From the best teams to the proudest and most loyal fans, it’s clear why there’s a Steelers bar in every major city in the US. So when it comes to celebrating the success of our athletes, you know we go hard.

The Dapper Dan Dinner & Sports Auction on February 21st celebrates athletic achievement and gives attendees the chance to see the best players and coaches in college and professional sports, up close and personal. Expect big name athletes, amazing food, and the most prestigious sports banquet in Pittsburgh. Seriously, even if you’re not the city’s #1 sports fan, you’ll want to throw on your best outfit and snag a coveted seat.

1. Sports Legends Will Be There

Sindney Crosby, Sportsman of the Year, 2018 (Steph Chambers/Post-Gazette)
Brittany Howard, Sportswoman of the Year, 2018 (RMU Athletics)
John Stallworth, Lifetime Achievement Award, 2018 (Post-Gazette)
Kevin Colbert, Sports Leadership Award, 2018 (Post-Gazette)

Over the years the banquet has honored some of the most famous names in sports (like Mario Lemieux and Dan Rooney), and 2018 is bringing the heat, too. This year’s honorees include John Stallworth, Kevin Colbert, Brittany Howard, and Sidney Crosby, and there are sure to be more awe-striking athletes in the house (so charge your phone).

2. The Jaw-Dropping Silent Auction

(Steel City Collectibles)

Want a jersey signed by Antonio Brown or Andrew McCutchen? How about a football autographed by Cameron Heyward or a photo by Marc Andre Fleury? This silent auction has it all, and it’s goes right to charity.

3. It Funds Youth Programs

(Boys & Girls Club of Western PA)

Proceeds from all Dapper Dan Charities events help fund the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania and other local organizations. So while you’re sneaking pics of Sid, you’re also helping kids. Win-win.

4. It’s Fancy

Amanda Polk, Sportswoman of the Year, 2017 (Post-Gazette)

Last month felt like it lasted a full year, so it’s time to get out of the house and into a cocktail dress (or pantsuit). Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to look as fierce as actual celebrities.

5. Sidney Crosby

It’s worth repeating. Sid the Kid will be there.
